Izzy Hammond Unhurt After Formula E Influencer Crash

Izzy Hammond, daughter of former Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenter, Richard Hammond, escaped injury after crashing during a Formula E influencer race event in Saudi Arabia.

The 25-year-old was taking part in the Duals stage of the Formula E Evo Sessions — a showcase format where content creators compete head-to-head for fastest laps on behalf of selected teams. During her run, Hammond lost control and hit the barrier at Turn 13 of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

Medical teams assessed her immediately after the incident, and she later confirmed she was unharmed, though the car suffered heavy damage.

Speaking after the crash, Hammond said her first concern was how the incident would look to viewers — especially her father. She recalled worrying that he might be watching live and become distressed, and asked for reassurance that he would be told she was safe.

She later made light of the collision, describing it as a heavy impact and joking that if one is going to crash, it might as well be a big one. Hammond added that she saw the barrier approaching and knew she would hit it at speed.

Hammond was competing for Team Senor Frogs alongside several online creators, including Joshua Larkin (TheBurntChip), William Lenney (WillNe), Arthur Frederick (ArthurTV), and Ethan Payne (Behzinga).

The incident inevitably drew comparisons to her father’s near-fatal crash in 2006, when he was seriously injured while attempting a land speed record in a jet-powered dragster during a filmed run at an airfield near York. He later recovered and returned to television presenting.
