The mangled bus at the accident scene
A DRIVER of a mini bus and twelve passengers onboard, including a female child, have sustained varying degrees of injuries after their vehicle dangerously fell on its side.
The road accident, reportedly, happened at Mankranso Market Square in the Ashanti Region on March 12, 2026 around 5:40 a.m. when the market was virtually empty.
According to the bus driver, Patrick Addai, the bus was from Mpassaso Asuokor and heading to the Kumasi direction smoothly until they reached Mankranso.
The bus’ steering wheel, he said, suddenly became uncontrollable, resulting in the bus veering from the road and falling dangerously on its side on the shoulder of the road.
“On 12/03/2026 about 0540 hours, suspect driver Patrick Addai, 30 years, was in charge VW LT 35 Bus with registration number CW 2123-24, driving from Mpassaso Asuokor to Kumasi with twelve (12) passengers and a female child on board.
“On reaching a section of the road at Mankranso township, suspect driver alleged that, the vehicle’s steering wheel suddenly became uncontrollable and, in the process, veered off the road into the Mankranso Market Square.
“The suspect driver together with all the passengers including the female child sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to Mankranso Government Hospital, where they are on admission receiving treatment,” a Mankranso Police report said.
According to the police, considerable damage was caused to the vehicle, adding that, “Suspect driver on admission and accident vehicle impounded at the station,” as investigations are ongoing.
