Sylvia Inkoom
First National Bank Ghana has announced the appointment of Sylvia Inkoom as Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2026, as the bank seeks to deepen financial inclusion and deliver more client-centred services across the country.
Her appointment, which is subject to approval by the Bank of Ghana, comes as part of the bank’s strategy to expand digital banking and enhance value delivery to customers.
Ms. Inkoom brings over 21 years of experience in banking, spanning relationship management, treasury, global markets, finance and structured deals.
She succeeds Warren Adams, who has led the bank since 2022 and will be transitioning to a new role within the FirstRand Group.
Until her appointment, Ms. Inkoom served as Executive Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, where she played a key role in strengthening client relationships and expanding the bank’s corporate and investment portfolio.
Chairman of the Board, Emmanuel Idun, said the board was confident in her ability to lead the bank into its next phase of growth.
“Her deep understanding of the Ghanaian banking industry will enable us to deliver relevant solutions to our clients and provide excellent service.
Her experience will help unlock further value and expand our offerings to support customers in achieving their financial goals,” he said.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Inkoom served as Deputy Managing Director at UBA Ghana, where she gained extensive exposure to both local and international banking operations.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management (London) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
She also holds an executive certificate in Corporate Finance from the London School of Economics, as well as a certificate in Strategic Client Management from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business.
She earned both her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and MBA in Finance from the University of Ghana Business School.
Her appointment has also been welcomed by Bydon Longwe, Chief Executive Officer for Broader Africa at FirstRand, who expressed confidence in her leadership.
“I look forward to seeing Sylvia leverage her experience and deep understanding of client relations to steer the business forward and deliver sustainable solutions that benefit the communities we serve,” he said.
Mr. Idun also paid tribute to the outgoing CEO, Mr. Adams, for strengthening the bank’s foundation and positioning it as a credible player in Ghana’s banking sector.
In his remarks, Mr. Adams said Ms. Inkoom’s leadership would enable the bank to seize new opportunities and accelerate its growth trajectory, noting that her experience and the strength of the team would support its ambition to become a significant market player.
