Apostle Aidoo (M) together with his senior pastors and the Minister
The Christian Divine Church (CDC), popularly known as ‘Taylor Church’, has reminded Ghanaians of the need to sustain the peace and unity the country is currently enjoying.
According to the church, peace and unity remain an invaluable prerequisite for achieving sustainable development.
The church indicated that despite the good policies, and concrete proposals of successive governments, the country’s development would be shortchanged without peace and unity.
This came to light when the newly elected chairman of the CDC, Apostle Alex Aidoo and his senior pastors paid a courtesy call on the Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, at Sekondi.
The visit was to introduce the new chairman of the church to the Minister as the successor of the founder and late Prophet John Taylor.
It was also to discuss how the church could collaborate with the Regional Coordinating Council to develop the region.
Apostle Aidoo emphasised that the church has the responsibility to preach against various social vices to help maintain peace, social cohesion, and national stability.
He gave the assurance that Christian Divine Church, which has its headquarters in the Western Region, will continue to offer the requisite support to the Minister.
General Secretary of the Church, Rev. Ebenezer Degraft Kwofie, stressed the need for the church to collaborate with the government in its developmental efforts.
He called on Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to desist from indulging in conducts that has the tendency to mar the relative peace the country is enjoying.
The New Takoradi Area Head of the church, Rev. Samuel Awuah, called on Christians to always pray for those at the helms of affairs of the country.
“We need to unite as Christians and pray for our leaders for God to sustain them,” he added.
Mr. Nelson admitted that politicians alone cannot bring the needed development and that they will need the support of all stakeholders including churches.
He expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Christian Divine Church and other churches who had visited him since he became the Regional Minister, for their resolve to collaborate with the political leaders in the region to help improve the living conditions of the people.
