The late Stephen Kwabena Boateng, aka Kessben
THE CHIEF Executive Officer (CEO) of Kessben Group of Companies, Stephen Kwabena Boateng, Esq, has reportedly passed on.
He was 69 years old.
Affectionately called ‘Kessben’, he is reported to have passed on at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, after succumbing to illness.
He owned a chain of businesses, which offered employment for hundreds of people.
Among his businesses included Kessben Media, including television and radio, Kessben University College, a savings and loans company, and an insurance company, among others.
According to reports, Kessben had recently been unwell, unfortunately, his condition suddenly deteriorated last Wednesday, leading to his unexpected demise, sparking sadness among his family, friends and numerous employees.
The announcement of Kessben’s untimely death on Thursday morning virtually stunned scores of residents of Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, who couldn’t believe the sad news.
A number of people in the city expressed their condolences to the bereaved family on radio and on various social media platforms, notably Facebook and WhatsApp.
Among those who openly lamented about Kessben’s demise was Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye, a former employee of Kessben FM, who now works with Owia TV.
According to Omanhene, Kessben, aside his humble and down-to-earth nature, was also very kind and generous as he organised several benevolent activities to support the poor.
“At a point, Mr. Kwabena was employing over one thousand people and he was also very passionate about helping the needy and the poor living in our various communities.
“Among his notable charity work is the annual mega parties that he organised for the aged to mark the beginning of every year. He was kind and may God bless him,” he stated.
