Ghanaian songstress, Sista Afia, has sparked massive reactions on social media after opening up about her fear of becoming a single mother.
In a candid post on X, the singer shared her deep anxiety about motherhood in this generation. “Seeing how many single mothers there are in this generation honestly scares me. I’m not afraid of motherhood, but I’m afraid of becoming a single mother or just a ‘baby mama’ without the love, commitment, and family I always envisioned. I want to build a home, not just have a child. And honestly, that fear scares the hell out of me,” she wrote.
Her post immediately triggered mixed reactions from fans and followers. A user identified as Big Mac questioned her decision to share such personal fears publicly.
“Sorry but you’re not wise…I really like you but you’re not wise for putting this out there …now all a smart man who wants to manipulate you gotta do is get close to you, and indirectly give you the idea and assurance that he wants same as you do…you fall in love and played,” he commented.
Another user, Bismarck World, shared his own experience as a single parent while offering spiritual advice. “As a human pray about your relationship and spiritual life. Because you can find the exact person and partner you wished for but will later end up being single. I never thought I will be a single Dad but I’m here today, I fear broken home and now my child is experiencing same,” he added.
Sista Afia’s post has since reignited conversations about single parenthood, relationships and family values among young Ghanaians online.
