Afrobeat Biggest Genre In The World – King Promise

Reigning Ghana Music Awards-USA Artiste of the Year, King Promise, has shared his opinion on how Afrobeat over the years has gained immense popularity globally, contributing to its status as the biggest genre in the world currently.

In an interview with Billboard, the ‘Continental’ crooner was of the view that Afrobeat has spread rapidly through social media, streaming platforms, and online music stores, making it accessible to a vast audience.

This is also evident in how Afrobeat artistes have been  collaborating with international artistes from various genres, introducing Afrobeat to new audiences and creating sound fusions that appeal to a broader demographic.

“Afrobeat has gradually become the biggest genre in the world and I think everybody can concur as tothe fact that it’s taking over, not just because it makes you feel good by even content-wise, that we just like to feel good to our music. and Sound life as well, just amazing, bro.

“It’s perfect. There is music for every hour, every time, every feeling, and, yeah, man, as well as sauce everybody can compare” (sic) he said.

Afrobeats has gained recognition from mainstream media, with artistes like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Tiwa Savage winning international awards and receiving significant acclaim.

Currently, the likes of King Promise among other promising international artistes have sustained the statues performing on big stages across the continents further enhancing its global reach.

Affectionately labeled as Ghana Afrobeats ambassador, King Promise, over the weeks was seen giving back-to-back performances, notable among them including his performance at the Bomboclat Festival in Bruges, Belgium, the Afronation, Detroit, ‘True To Self’ album release party in LA among others.

King Promise’s ‘True To Self’ album is making waves globally. The album was recently spotted on billboards in Leicester Square, London, as part of his efforts to expand his audience beyond the African continent.

‘True To Self’ is a 12-track album that features an impressive lineup of artistes, including Shallipopi, Fave, Gabzy, Fridayy, Lasmid, Ladipoe, Sarkodie, and Olivetheboy.
