Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kyerematen
In a surprising turn of events, the Northern Regional Coordinator for Alan Kyerematen, Ismail Yahuza, is reported to have defected from his original camp and pledged his support to Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as he runs for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’) flagbearer race.
Yahuza, a failed National Vice Chairmanship aspirant and a strong Kyerematen supporter, reportedly released a statement highlighting Dr Bawumia’s qualities and achievements as Vice President and his confidence in his ability to lead the party in the upcoming elections.
Yahuza’s decision to defect is a further boost to Dr Bawumia’s campaign as he seeks to become the party’s flagbearer. With growing support from within the party, Dr Bawumia’s leadership is increasingly seen as the most viable option to lead the NPP in the upcoming elections.
His message of inclusivity, competence, and commitment to peace resonate with both Christians and Muslims, making him a unifying force in the party.
As the campaign heats up, the NPP will need to come together behind a strong leader who can unite the party and lead it to victory in the 2024 elections.
With growing support from within the party, Dr Bawumia’s leadership is increasingly seen as the best option to achieve this goal.
