Amakye Dede has been honoured in the United States of America (USA) with the Key to the City of Worcester, Massachusetts.
The event took place on Saturday, August 12 after great performances at the St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street Worcester, M.A 01604 in the US.
The celebrated highlife legend was handed the Key by the Mayor of Massachusetts, Joseph Petty, for his immense contribution to the music industry and for honouring the City of Worcester with such a successful musical concert and great performance.
The key represents a symbol of trade and cultural unity between Ghana and Worcester.
The presentation ceremony saw the city mayor applauding the Amakye Dede for his efforts at promoting Ghanaian highlife music on the international music scene.
As part of his annual US tour, Amakye Dede and his Apollo High Kings Band performed to a packed audience at St. George Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester on Sunday, August 12, 2018.
Backed by his own Hi Kings Band, Amakye Dede’s performance was without doubt the most thrilling. He gave his US-based fans a feel of good Ghanaian highlife music.
Amakye Dede performed most of his popular hit songs such as ‘Akonoba’, ‘Bebrebe’, ‘Iron Boy’, ‘Odo Nfoni Abebi Bewua Eso’, ‘Wanware Me A’, ‘Odo Mani Agyina’, ‘Ohohoo Batani’, among others.
