THE 21st Century Christians must be men and women of knowledge. We must have adequate scriptural knowledge about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, angels, Satan, demons, atheists and several other things. Currently, many Christians have some knowledge about God and Satan, but have very little or no knowledge about atheists.
Atheists are ordinary human beings. They are just like any man or woman we see around. Some of them are wealthy and educated; others are poor, wretched and uneducated just like how many theists are. The only weird thing about atheists is that they are critical unbelievers; they are faithless. An atheist wrote to me about a year ago that he could not learn how to believe or exercise faith in God.
Atheists do not believe in the existence of God. In fact, they say there is no God, so they criticise everything about God including Jesus Christ and the Bible. Atheists did not arise today. They were there even in the days of King David. Psalm 14:1 says, “The fool has said in his heart, ‘there is no God…”
Atheists are a minority group that is scattered around the nations of the world. Modern atheists have formed associations in schools and colleges throughout the world, abusing the minds of students against God, Jesus Christ and the Bible. The advent of the social media has given them free space to disseminate blasphemous messages.
Now, the Bible tells us that unbelievers including atheists are not of themselves. They are not free men and women, but slaves. They are lost and wandering in the world of darkness. They are under the control of the devil after capturing them to do his will. The eyes of their minds have been blinded so they cannot see the glory of the gospel and encounter its God.
Ministers of God are, therefore, cautioned to avoid quarrelling with faithless people, but be “kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will” (2 Timothy 2:24-26).
Due to the blindness that is in them, it is almost impossible for atheists to accept the truth of their captivity and slavery. They argue that they are free, logical and rational thinkers. But are they really rational thinkers? Who is a rational thinker? A rational thinker puts his emotions aside and makes a decision or undertakes a project, knowing exactly what he would gain and lose in the process.
Atheistic criticisms against God, Jesus Christ, the Bible and Christianity did not start today. They are generations old, and their campaigns have always been fruitless, futile and waste of time, money, energy and other precious resources. They simply kick against the goads. Who can overthrow Christ or His Church?
Jesus of Nazareth is an indestructible rock. Herod could not kill Him when He was born. The Pharisees and Sadducees could not prevent Him from fulfilling His ministry. The Jewish religious leaders could not stop the apostles from preaching and teaching in His name. Their persecutory agenda against the church rather helped in the advancement of the gospel.
Writings of several political dictators and atheists including Gerald Massey, a 19th Century English poet and amateur Egyptologist, and D. M. Murdoch to discredit Christianity have failed miserably. Today, the Church is robustly marching on.
So, would a true educated, analytical, rational thinker use his precious resources for a project he knows will eventually fail? And would a rational thinker speak against somebody or something he says does not exist? Certainly not! Only a foolish person would do these. It is clear that atheists are conscious enemies of Christ Jesus sent to deliberately oppose Christianity.
There are many religions and faith-based organisations in the world, yet atheists overlook all of them and attack only the Bible, God, Jesus Christ and Christianity. Their works expose them as ministers of the devil sent to oppose Christ and His Church by discrediting the Bible. Christians ought to know these truths about atheists and learn how to live with them in schools, homes, neighbourhoods, communities and nations.
Indeed, true unbiased rational thinking should not lead to Godlessness and unbelief, but rather lead to knowledge and realisation that there exists a spiritual realm beyond the physical realm where God operates from. God is a Spirit and cannot be seen scientifically under a microscope or telescope, studied and understood like a bacterium, virus, protists, fungus or viroids.
God – father of all spirits – can be seen (not in His full glory), encountered, known and heard through revelations by faith and at His will.
