Cecilia Gyase
Actress Cecilia Gyase has stated that although it is necessary for celebrities to win awards, it should not be “a do or die affair.”
Speaking to NEWS-ONE over the weekend about a recent UN award she won, Cecilia revealed that awards “encourage you to do more of what you were awarded for… If you deserve an award, nothing should stop you from it.”
However, she added that it is not okay to go the extra mile to influence an award scheme just to win.
Cecilia was among a number of personalities who were honoured by the United Nations Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC) for their contributions to sustainable development in Ghana and Africa as a whole.
The ECOSOC is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations responsible for coordinating the economic, social and related work of 15 UN specialised agencies.
Its awards scheme was targeted at recognising and inspiring like-minded personalities who have helped in the United Nations agenda for a sustainable development and also individuals who have dedicated themselves to work selflessly to ensuring a much better society for Africa as a continent.
Cecilia is not only an actress but she has a TV show and a YouTube channel which she uses to preach peace, curb teenage pregnancy and target other ills in society.
She was honoured alongside actor Liwin, Prophet Badu Kobi, Dr Kennedy Agyemang of Kenoga Company Limited and a number others on Saturday, April 28.
“Being honoured with UN recognition award, I see it as a step to do more of my projects and work hard because whatever you are doing today do it well, you never know what that will bring to you in near future,” she mentioned.
The sultry actress is one of Ghana’s actresses doing well in Kumawood. She started getting attention after she was featured in the movie, ‘Supremo’.
She has since featured in movies like ‘Sika Mpe Ahantan’, ‘War of Roses’, ‘Me Nko Mebusua’, ‘Me Gye Meba’, ‘Tonga’, ‘Teacher Kojo Ring’, among others.
