The flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has successfully united theĀ  Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi BoasiakoĀ  and theĀ  Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh ahead of the December 7 elections.

The move by Dr. Bawumia followsĀ  the longstanding friction that have existed between Bernard Antwi Boasiako,Ā  popularly calledĀ  Chairman Wontumi and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh over several party issues which developed into a bad relationship between the two.

The reconciliation process, which forms an important element of Dr. Bawumia’s consultations with some bigwigs in the party preceding the official announcement of his running mate for the upcoming elections, is said to have taken place at the flagbearerā€™s official residence in Accra.

Other individuals who were present at the meeting apart from Chairman Wontumi and Napo include Agric Nzema Chief, Nana Nkansah Boadu, and other senior party members.

DAILY GUIDE has learnt that the two stalwarts of the party have pledged to resolve their differences and support the flagbearer in his bid to win the presidential elections in December.

Sources reveal that the harmonious relationship between the two also sets the stage for Dr. Bawumia to present his running mate nominee to the partyā€™s National Council for endorsement, which will be followed by an official announcement of his running mate to the public for preparations ahead of the elections.

In a related development, the Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, yesterday officially informed the National Officers of the party of his selection of the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, as his running mate ahead of the December elections.

The meeting, which took place at the partyā€™s headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra, comes in the wake of the selection of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
