Bima Launches Experience Centre At Chorkor

BIMA as part of their business of protecting the future of every Ghanaian family with the provision of micro insurance, has outdoored a new experience centre at Chorkor in Accra.

This is an exciting time for BIMA, with Chokor being just the first of 10 centres that they are opening around the country.

Present were representatives from Societe Generale, AirtelTigo, GIZ, Prudential Life Insurance, Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa, Korle Gonno Manye Naa Adua Okropong I and the Assemblyman for the area Theophilus Isaac Quaye.

The launch of the Chorkor experience centre forms part of Bima’s vision to support Ghanaians, individuals and families to plan for the unexpected and to plan to ride the storm of uncertainty.

This is the first of 10 centres to be opened around the country: Chokor, Madina, Kasoa, Tema, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Tarkwa, Ejisu, Suame and Sunyani.

According to the Country Manager of Bima Ghana, Valerie Abena Konyo Labi Gundou Sapta Naa, the Chorkor experience centre will support families who would otherwise have avoided going to the hospital or getting a lab test from a reputable organization because they feared the aftermath of a large hospital bill.

Commenting on the launch under the theme “Closer to you”, Valerie Abena Konyo Labi said ” BIMA is piloting delivering medicines directly to the doors of those who need them and also they are ensuring that when the worst happens, and a loved one is lost, that we step in to pick up some of the financial burdens, allowing kids to stay in school, families to pay rent, and the right thing to be done to say goodbye.

She mentioned BIMA has served more than 2.5million Ghanaians with insurance directly over the phone and that they are dedicated to being closer to families so that we are just a stone throw away either by foot or by phone working together to protect the future of you and your families.

“We strive to be reliable and are adapting everyday to make sure that we are providing the needed value back to our customers. Also, we strive to pay claims in a timely and efficient manner with minimal paperwork and disturbance, she added.

She however commended GIZ, their sponsoring partner, who has been part of the journey all the way from concept generation to final delivery.

GIZ’s support has been invaluable and we are looking forward to continuing to bring to the forefront an increased awareness and penetration of micro-insurance across Ghana through future endeavours, she added.

BIMA organized for the community a free health screening and Health check and also took the opportunity to present claims to some beneficiaries at the event.

BIMA uses mobile technology to deliver affordable insurance and health products to underserved consumers and families in emerging markets who cannot access these vital products through traditional channels. BIMA’s technology platforms create a paperless experience and enable scale, while the agent force distributes products and provides customer education.

This tech-enabled approach is the key to BIMA’s growth, reaching 26 million subscribers in 15 markets across Africa, Asia and Latin America.
