Black Stars Fly Out To AFCON Today

It has emerged from the corridors of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) that the senior national football side, the Black Stars will fly out to Cote d’Ivoire for this year’s AFCON today.

On Monday, the Stars drew barren with Namibian counterparts at the Baba Yara Stadium in a test game.

The departure date was confirmed along with an update on midfielder Mohammed Kudus’ recovery from a minor injury.

This writer spotted Kudus at the Kumasi International Airport yesterday, and was expected to join the squad for the trip to Abidjan.

The midfielder sustained the injury while playing for West Ham United against Arsenal in the Premier League on December 28, 2023.

He is currently undergoing rehabilitation, and the Black Stars’ medical team is monitoring his progress.

The Stars have been camping in Kumasi since January 3, ahead of the biennial soccer festival.

Ghana are housed alongside Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique in Group B.

The tournament is scheduled from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
