The Black Stars

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the Black Stars will travel to Europe for two high-profile international friendlies as part of their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana will first take on Austria on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 GMT. The match forms a key part of Ghana’s final preparations ahead of the global showpiece.

Following the clash in Vienna, the Black Stars will remain in Europe to face Germany in a second friendly, set for Monday, March 30, in Stuttgart.

Both Ghana and Austria have already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States, adding extra competitive edge to the upcoming encounter.

At the tournament, Ghana have been drawn into Group I alongside England, Croatia and Panama, while Austria will compete in Group J with reigning world champions Argentina, Algeria and Jordan.

The Black Stars will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, in Toronto. They will then face England in Boston on June 23, before concluding their group-stage matches against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.

The two European friendlies are expected to provide Ghana with a stern test and valuable match fitness as they fine-tune their preparations for one of the most anticipated World Cups in history.
