‘Cook-A-Thon Power Outage Not Dumsor’

Chef Faila

The Deputy Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Rabi Salifu has debunked rumours alleging that the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) was responsible for the unannounced power outage on day four of Chef Faila’s cook-a-thon attempt.

It will be recalled that Chef Faila on Thursday, January 4, 2023, experienced a power outage during her cook-a-thon attempt at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale.

Many supporters were made to turn on their phone lights to enhance her visibility to achieve the set goal of being the longest cooking marathon holder.

At the peak of the incident, some supporters flooded social media to curse Ghana’s government and officials of NEDCo whilst holding them accountable.

Speaking on the “Big Issue” segment of TV3’s New Day morning show yesterday, Rabi Salifu emphatically stated that the government and officials of the NEDCo were not responsible for the power outage that occurred at Modern City Hotel.

“About the light that went off, Modern City Hotel had its issues, and I was there to support Faila. The light out was not dumsor nor the fault of the electricity company but was a fault of the Modern City Hotel,” she stated.

Rabi Salifu seized the moment to congratulate Chef Faila Abdul Razak and Afua Owusu Asantewaa Aduonum for their effort in projecting Ghana.
