COSUA Mourns Atsu
The Coalition of Supporters Unions of Africa (COSUA) has added its dirge to hundreds of messages of condolence to the bereaved family of former Black Stars player, Christian Atsu.
In a statement signed by its Founder and President, Sarfo Abebrese, COSUA, which is a pan-African NGO operating as a partner to the African Union to use sports to build African unity, expressed its “deep sorrow at the loss of such a young and talented Ghanaian and star of Africa who had lit up global soccer giants like Chelsea and Newcastle in his prime and made everyone proud of his exploits.”
The statement referred to the manner of Atsu’s death as “very tragic” and wished his nation, the entire football fraternity and especially his family, divine consolation in the sure hope that “his gentle soul is resting in perfect peace with his maker while his good deeds here on earth continue to be poured out in tributes all over the globe.”
“When we all jumped to celebrate that sublime goal you scored with that final kick of yours in that final minute of the game, little did we know that the heap of all your team mates falling over you as you laid on the field in jubilant mood, was going to be a symbolic replication of the tragic event of that night,” Abebrese stated, concluding with the prayer that “the mighty Angels of God will receive and be with you till we meet again.”
