Jerryne Asante
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, Jerryne Asante, was on Monday, April 27, 2026, reportedly attacked by individuals alleged to be constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), sparking tension at the Ejisu Municipal Assembly.
The incident is said to have followed an alleged warehouse break-in involving some party executives.
In a viral video which showed the confrontation, shared on social media by Akoma FM, a subsidiary of Media General, a heated exchange between the alleged NDC executives and police officers inside the MCE’s office was seen.
Also, Gloria Korshior Huze, the Ashanti Regional Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), who doubles as the Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser of the NDC, was also seen in the video.
The footage further captured a damaged glass table, believed to belong to the MCE, suggesting that the confrontation may have turned chaotic.
Voices in the video indicate that the group had stormed the Assembly premises with the intention of forcefully removing the MCE from office. “We didn’t come here to joke; pack your things,” one of the men was heard saying.
In response, Madam Asante condemned the actions of her alleged attackers, stating that the NDC had become “too cheap” for such individuals to associate with it. She also vowed to ensure that those responsible for the attack and the disturbance in her office face the law.
“The NDC has become cheap… you will suffer for it. Today, you have grown wings… you will suffer for it,” she warned.
Efforts to reach both the MCE and Madam Gloria Huze for their official comments on the incident were unsuccessful.
However, speaking on Owia TV, monitored by DAILY GUIDE, Madam Huze denied allegations of an attack. She explained that their visit to the MCE’s office was merely to caution her and not to cause harm.
Addressing concerns over the broken windows and damage within the office, the Regional Women’s Organiser insisted that they did not engage in any form of vandalism.
She noted that two police officers were present with the MCE at the time, making it unlikely for any such destruction to occur.
As at the time of filing this report, the NDC leadership in the Ashanti Region, led by its chairman, Augustus Andrews, popularly known as Nana Kwasi, had not issued any official statement on the matter.
Prior to her appointment, Jerryne Asante was the NDC parliamentary candidate for Ejisu Constituency in the 2024 general election.
