Footsoldiers Empowerment Key To Electoral Victory – MP

MP Kennedy Kankam

The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso Constituency in Kumasi, Kennedy Kankam, says economic empowerment of party footsoldiers is central to realizing desired outcomes for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2020 general elections.

He has therefore donated 11 city cars – Kia Picanto and Daewoo Matiz – to the party for onward distribution to all the electoral areas in the constituency.

The electoral areas are Kwadaso Estate, Adiembra/Fankyerebra, Sokoban/Daban, Nhyiaeso/Dakwadwom, Adiebbeba/Ahodwo, Santasi New Site, Santasi Old Town, Atasomanso, Patasi, Daban/Apraman and South Suntreso.

The cars which are to be used as taxicabs, are meant to help the constituency generate income for the NPP foot soldiers to keep pace with rapid economic and digital transformations in the country, according to the MP.

This donation comes just a month after giving the constituency a 40-seater bus as part of his commitment to resource the party at the constituency level towards election 2020 and beyond.

Speaking at a special presentation ceremony in Kumasi on Friday during his accounting to the people forum, Mr Kankam said the latest donation is critical for the grassroots to guarantee them a better life.

The MP noted that the kind gesture is beside what he had done for his constituents either the construction of a six-unit classroom block for the Sokoban Methodist Basic School, 20-seater toilet facility for the Opoku Ware School, construction of CHP compound for Dakwadwom residents or provision of 250 streetlights to the electoral areas.

“I have offered myself to work for you and this is exactly what I am doing,” he stated as he point out to other projects undertaken so far in the constituency.

These included the construction of Sokoban Community Centre and the retaining wall at Kwadaso Estate.

Ashanti Regional Organiser of the NPP, Francis Adomako, who graced the ceremony, urged the party foot soldiers to continuously work hard for the retention of the Nana Addo led-government.

“Begin the door-to-door and house-to-house campaign used in the 2016 elections. We have to consolidate the gains and make more inroads this time around,” he indicated,
