Award-winning reggae/dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, says he had tried many times to call his colleagues to come together and fight for their rights, but anytime he makes the attempt, they turn him down.
He claimed that his colleagues in the music industry have declined to support him in the fight, particularly when it comes to matters with royalties, thus he has chosen to fight alone.
“I have told a lot of artistes in Ghana that I don’t know why we can’t come together and fight for royalties, fight for things that will make us rich. When I look at the American artistes, I could see that it is just something that has made their lives better, so if we have that mindset we can also do something good for ourselves,” he said.
In an interview with Nhyira FM, the dancehall artiste accused some individuals in the music industry of tagging him as disrespectful when he tries to speak his mind.
The controversial artiste claimed that the reason he is constantly making headlines on the music scene is because he is too patriotic to remain silent about wrongdoings in the society, particularly in the music sector where he currently works.
Since his return to the music industry from Bandana a decade ago, Shatta Wale has unquestionably managed to establish himself as one of the most talked-about artistes in the country.
He continues to win the hearts of most youth, despite the fact that he has drawn criticism from the majority of industry people for his commentary and celebrity stunts.
