Team Ghana displaying their trophies
The Ghana Golf Amateur men team returned from Nigeria last weekend.
The team had participated in the maiden Africa Regions 2 and 3 West and Central Africa Golf tournament.
Led by team captain Yaw Yeboah Tenkorang, the team placed fourth out of eight countries participating, comprising Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Nigeria (Host) , Senegal and Togo.
Ghana was painfully beaten in the third place play-off by Togo, who pipped them by just a stroke.
The eventual winners were the host country, Nigeria, followed by Gabon in second place.
Ghana’s team was sponsored by B Appah Electricals Limited and KEK Insurance Brokers Limited.
In another development, Mike Aggrey, Ghana Golf Association president, has unanimously been elected as chairman for Africa Regions 2 & 3.
The newly instituted annual event will take place in Ghana or Nigeria next year.
