Rev. McAbraham Sarpong
Rev. McAbraham Sarpong, a Kumasi-based gospel musician, has mentioned that most of the lyrics in some of the gospel songs on the music market cannot be described as ‘gospel’.
He said gospel musicians should take their time to go through the Holy Bible and select Scriptures that inspire “and use them to compose quality songs for our spiritual upliftment.”
He added that although the rhythm of gospel music hasn’t changed in the past years, many of the contemporary musicians do not enrich their songs with Biblical messages, thereby, making it difficult for people to patronise their music.
Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Pure FM, McAbraham said, “I think today’s gospel musicians are doing well in terms of keeping the rhythm high but the only problem I have with them is, their contents are not lyrically rich to draw people closer to God.”
He, therefore, advised gospel musicians to study the Bible extensively, so that they can enrich their music content.
Rev. Sarpong again advised them to be humble and live righteous lives worthy as Christians if they want to go far in the music ministry.
