GOVERNMENT HAS set up a 13-member committee to draw guidelines for the absorption of Ghanaian students from Ukraine into universities in the country.
The committee, which is chaired by Dr. Nsiah Asare, Presidential Special Advisor on Health, has four weeks to submit its report.
It has representation from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ministry of Health, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Students Representative Council (SRC), Medical and Dental Council, Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Vice Chancellors of Medical Schools, and the Rector of College of Physicians and Surgeons.
The committee has the responsibility to update and explain the essential problem at stake to the government, and formulate plans for the immediate integration of the Ghanaian medical students from Ukraine into the Ghana medical education system.
Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, who inaugurated the committee last Friday in Accra called on the committee to ensure that the students are integrated as soon as practicable to continue their education.
He urged the committee to find innovative ways to create a pathway for some of the students who might have some weaknesses in some areas of their studies so they could cope with the Ghanaian education system.
He asked parents of the affected students to exercise patience, assuring them that the government would work to get schools for their wards.
Chairman of the committee, Dr. Nsiah Asare, on behalf of the committee, pledged to work hard to achieve the dreams and aspirations of the government.
