Metro TV
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) yesterday shut down operations at Metro TV at Labone.
According to reports, officials from GRA stormed the Metro TV premises yesterday morning and spent about 15 minutes going through their records. They then held a brief meeting with management of the station after which they drove every staff out of the premises and placed it under lock and key.
According to reports, GRA says the provisions in their records do not tally or correspond with the provisions in the records provided by Metro TV, hence the closure of the outfit.
The action means that Metro TV will not be on air till they have sorted out all issues with GRA.
Speaking to the Media, the General Manager of Metro TV, William Asare, expressed worry about the situation. He said they would be sending their people to the GRA office to sort out all issues.
Speaking about the impact the situation would have on his media outfit, he said, “We are a media agency, and as a media agency, what you have to do is to broadcast. So if you are not broadcasting then of course you are losing out on almost everything that’s happening.”
“We hope to rectify all these issues and resume work as soon as possible”, he added.
