‘I Am Not Worried About Awards Snub’

Afropop and dancehall artiste, Ahmed Mujahid Bello, popularly known as Fancy Gadam; one of the most sought-after performers from the Northern Region, says he is not worried about the recent awards snub.

Previously, he has won Hiplife Song of the Year and Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year with his hit song, Total Cheat’, at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

According to him, satisfying his fan base in the country remained his priority, as he continued to work hard to get the needed attention in the larger music markets.

Fancy Gadam, who appeared on many musical concerts held in the country, and performed with music stars like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Samini, among others, said, “The ultimate thing in this music business is having people to support your music. For me, I feel getting an award is a plus, but getting the masses to believe in your music is the most important thing.”

“I am not worried about not receiving awards in recent times, because I just consider it [as] a plus,” he told GNA Entertainment.

The ‘Total Cheat’ hitmaker has carved a niche for himself as one of the most talented artistes from the Northern Region.

He has single handedly filled the National Theatre, Tamale Stadium, and Bukom Boxing Arena to capacity with his captivating showmanship.

He began his music career at the age of 12 as a performer at schools and public events. He has six studio albums to his credit: ‘Kalipo’, ‘Ashili’, ‘Nawuni Yiko’, ‘Takahi’, ‘Mujahid’ and ‘Dream’.

In 2016, he signed a one year deal with Twellium Company Limited, manufacturers of Rush Energy Drink, as the brand ambassador for the three northern regions of Ghana.

He was endorsed by the Ministry of Inner City And Zongo Development And The Commission For National Culture as the new ‘Face of Zongo’ at the Zongofest 2017.
