‘Inebriate’ Police Officer Interdicted

A police officer seemingly in a drunken state has been interdicted according to a statement from the Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service.

A video of the policeman who placed his head on his legs at a point stood up staggering towards a direction. His movement suggested that he was drunk.

A man who watched the police officer walking away said in Akan that ‘this is a police officer of the Ghana Police Service drunk’ among other things.

The police officer on his part uttered some gibberish remarks as he walked away when he was putting on his beret.

In this day and age, smart phones are used to capture negative actions such as the police officer who looked drunk even as he spotted the uniform of the law enforcement officers.

“The said officer has been identified and in line with Police regulations, he had interdicted to make way for investigation into his conduct,” the Police statement signed by the Director-General of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service ACP Kwesi Ofori, indicated.

A clinical psychologist, the statement went on, has been detailed “to evaluate him and offer him the necessary support.”

The said police officer will also be referred to a Police Medical Board which will review his case and render support towards his rehabilitation where necessary.

His suitability or otherwise in the service according to the statement will depend upon the outcome of the investigations and the Medical Board’s recommendation.
