JP Morgan set to finance breakaway European Super League

American bank, JP Morgan Chase & Co, is expected to finance the breakaway European Super League.

European football is at a crossroad following the agreement reached by 12 clubs to form what they called the European Super League, a breakaway from the UEFA Champions League.

There is currently a ‘civil war’ in Europe over the move, with Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, football experts, former footballers, football governing bodies including La Liga, English Premier League, UEFA, FIFA, fans, all opposing the move.

But JP Morgan Chase & Co announced in a statement first made available to the AFP on Monday, April 20, 2021, that it will be financing the European Super League.

“I can confirm that we are financing the deal, but have no further comment at the moment,” a JP Morgan’s spokesman is reported by AFP as saying.

The 12 breakaway clubs are Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan.
