SIMEON Kwaku Tetteh, the Municipal Chief Executive for Lower Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region, has distributed over 10,000 face masks free of charge as part of measures to stop the spread of Covid-19 in the municipality.

The masks were given to the market women, traders, drivers and passengers at the Agomanya Market and other areas in the municipality.

He explained to DAILY GUIDE on Tuesday that the assembly, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government, was determined to share more masks and intensify education in a bid to subdue and combat the Covid-19 outbreak.

“The wearing of masks is now compulsory as directed by the Ministry of Health, and the assembly is also enforcing it and we have earmarked about 10,000 to be distributed,” he said.

He advised the residents to cooperate with health workers and security agents during this difficult time, adding that the distribution would continue until every resident had received their share.

Aspirant Donation

In a related development, the 2020 NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Samuel Nuertey Ayertey, who doubles as the Deputy Regional Minister, also donated some items to the Muslim community to support them during the Ramadan.

The items which included 26 bags of sugar, 21 bags of rice, 14 cartons of milk and 14 boxes of Lipton were donated at separate locations to the over 14 Muslim communities in the constituency.

The Muslim leadership commended the parliamentary candidate and the NPP government for the kind gesture and its continuous support to the Muslim community.

Mr. Ayertey urged the Muslim community to continue to pray for the nation, especially in this global crisis of Covid-19 pandemic.
