Kwabena Kwabena
Renowned Highlife star, Kwabena Kwabena, has emphasised that abuse is not a manifestation of love, urging victims to leave abusive relationships without hesitation.
Speaking on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo with host Nana Romeo, Kwabena Kwabena delivered a resounding condemnation of domestic violence, stating unequivocally, “No person who loves you lays their hands on you to abuse you.”
‘The Afraid to Lose You’ hitmaker dispelled the notion that marriage can reform an abusive partner, particularly women, advising them to terminate relationships at the first sign of physical violence.
He asserted, “The moment a man hits you, please, woman, end that relationship.”
Sharing a personal insight into his perspective, Kwabena Kwabena revealed his stance on his daughter’s future marriage, stating firmly that any man who doesn’t treat her with respect and peace will face consequences.
He emphasised, “If you cannot stay with her in peace, bring back my daughter. The day you hit her, I will come to take her from the house myself.”
Directly addressing abusive men, Kwabena Kwabena admonished them to feel ashamed of their actions, emphasising the inherent contradiction in abusing and then seeking intimacy with their partners. He declared, “It is not right. You cannot beat the woman and also sleep with her.”
For those enduring domestic violence, Kwabena Kwabena issued a straightforward directive, “Pack your things and go back to your father’s house.”
