‘Leave Nana Alone’

President Nana Akufo-Addo

Deputy Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwame Adom Appiah, has advised members of the party not to mount pressure on President Akufo-Addo to appoint their favourites to serve in his government.

He emphatically condemned a release by a grouping in the ruling political party called ‘Decent Communicators of the NPP, which tends to mount pressure on the president to appoint him (Adom Appiah) to serve in his government.

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party, who was furious, stated that he has nothing to do with the ‘divisive and weird’ release, stating that the statement, which went viral on social media, should be ignored by the public.

“The said release seeks to push for my appointment by the president to serve in his government. I wish to categorically state that I have not ordered them and, indeed, they don’t have my permission overtly or covertly to issue such press release.

“As a true blue member of the great NPP and lawyer, I know and appreciate that the power to appoint a person to serve in the government rests with the president and indeed it’s his sole preserve,” Lawyer Adom Appiah, stated in a release, which was copied to DAILY GUIDE.

The NPP Scribe sternly cautioned his party members to refrain from acts that would create divisions in the party.

“No persons can coerce the president to appoint a person of their choice.”

Lawyer Adom Appiah said President Akufo-Addo cannot appoint all members of the NPP at a particular time.

He told NPP supporters that they could play different roles to make the NPP government succeed directly or indirectly.

According to him, President Akufo-Addo, who is a competent and visionary leader, has so far appointed knowledgeable, patriotic and hardworking men and women to serve in his government.

He disclosed that he would offer unflinching support to the party and the Nana Akufo-Addo administration.
