Melcom Foundation, the charitable arm of the Melcom group of companies, has launched a blood donation campaign aimed at preventing the deaths of adults and children due to blood shortages at hospitals.
The nationwide blood donation exercise, organized in collaboration with the National Blood Service and Graphic Clinic is in relation to the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility of prioritizing healthcare and education.
Director of Communication, Melcom Group, Godwin Avenorgbo, told journalists in Accra that Melcom is committed to improving customer health and wellbeing by encouraging blood donation nationwide.
The participating branches include Melcom Mall- Spintex, Melcom Plus-North Kaneshie, Achimota, Ashiaman and Tema Melcom Plus Mall and other regional branches across the country.
“This year’s blood donation exercise is being held in all regions of Ghana to give people a chance to give in favour of health care delivery” he reiterated.
Mr. Avenorgbo further acknowledged the support of the National Blood Service and the Graphic clinic for partnering the company to embark on this exercise adding,” as a good corporate citizen our contribution to national development must be of necessity to the benefit of all and sundry that’s why we have created two pillars of our CSR thus health and education to facilitate our service delivery”.
He also announced that Melcom will be unveiling its new mini brand at Tema Community 25 and Airport residential area which will have unique features like a Gymnasium Active 8, international yogurt and ice cream brand Yole and three additional pizza hat restaurants.
