Minorities’ Rights Symposium In Accra

Sheikh IC Quaye

An international symposium on the rights and obligations of religious minorities will take place on Thursday, June27, 2019 at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

The programme will be held under the auspices of the Islamic Centre for Education and Development in collaboration with the government of Ghana and the Muslim World League.

According to Sheikh I.C. Quaye Chairman of the National Hajj Board, the symposium has been necessitated by the need to address ‘the tumultuous nature of the world today’ which he added is ‘characterised by racial differences, cultural antagonism, religious extremism and misdirected nationalism thereby creating conflicts, intolerance and open violence against minorities in all situations.’

The Special Guest for the occasion will be Muhammad Abdul Karim Issah, General Secretary of the Muslim World League, an NGO founded by the late King Faisal Abdul Aziz.

The welcome address would be presented by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
