Vitus Yuordong

VITUS YUORDONG, the forest guard who got missing in the Asukese Forest Reserve in Bono Region close to a month ago, has been found alive on a refuse dump in the Eastern Region.

The 32-year-old guard was found in an unconscious state by a Zoomlion truck driver and his mate with hands handcuffed and legs tied together on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Asona refuse site at Nkwakaw in the Eastern Region.

According to information gathered by the paper, because Vitus was found in an unconscious state, he was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw where he received medical attention.

The Mpraeso Forest District Manager visited him to ascertain his health condition.

But Vitus Yuordong was rescued without his accoutrements such as gun, machete and bag.

Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, Vitus had been sent back to authorities at the Sunyani Forest District and reunited with his family.

Confirming this to DAILY GUIDE, the Sunyani Forest District Manager, Francis Brobbey, said Mr. Yuordong was doing well.

Vitus, at the time of rescue, told his rescuers he was captured in the Asukese Forest Reserve by suspected illegal chainsaw operators when he excused himself to attend nature’s call, kept and assaulted, and later dumped at the refuse site.

It will be recalled that Vitus got missing during an operation by forest guards of the Forestry Commission on July 2, 2023 to clamp down on illegal chainsaw operators in Asukese Forest of the Sunyani Forest District of Bono Region when he excused himself to attend nature’s call in the Daadom portion of the forest reserve, but got missing until Monday, July 24, 2023, when he was found at a refuse site at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.
