The children of the late Hajia Ramatu Aliu Mahama at the service
The state funeral for the late former Second Lady, Hajia Ramatu Aliu Mahama, came off last Saturday with a long list of attendees from within and without the country.
President Akufo-Addo, his spouse Madam Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, his spouse Hajia Samira Bawumia, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, the Chief of Staff Madam Akosua Frema Osei- Opare graced the occasion.
The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, presided over the Islamic segment of the programme with prayers for the soul of the departed former Second Lady and for the progress and protection of the country.
The long list of dignitaries included the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Issah Yakubu, Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, the Deputy Emir of Kano who represented the Emir, and a representative of the Ya Na in the person of the Pishigu Lana Alhassan Andani.
Others at the function were the Tumu Koro, the traditional head of Tumu, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Ghana and many others.
The Pishigu Lana, who represented the Ya Na, said he was sent by the Dagbon King to come and witness the proceedings, which in his observation was well executed. He expressed gratitude to the President and the Vice President for a state funeral service well executed.
Former President John Mahama sent a delegation made up Alhaji Huudu Yahaya, Alhassan Suhyini and Murtala.
It was an activity which brought persons together, who have long lost touch with each other.
Hajia Ramatu Aliu Mahama took her last breath at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on April 7, 2022, aged 70, and was buried at Tamale by the side of her late husband, the late former Vice President Aliu Mahama.
