Nana Gives GH¢50,000 To MUSIGA

President Akufo-Addo stole the show on Sunday evening when he graced the presidential ball organized by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

The event was to honour some music legends who have made invaluable contributions to the industry over the years.

President Akufo-Addo took exquisite steps while dancing with his wife Rebecca.

He personally donated an amount of GH?50,000 to support the Aged Musicians Fund set up by MUSIGA to support ageing musicians.

Vice President Dr Bawumia and wife Samira were excellent on the dance floor at the foyer of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

The President of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffuor popularly known as Obuor, raised concerns about the fact that their current office would be affected by the Marine Drive Project which would commence soon.

The President, who is passionate about music and musicians, asked leadership of MUSIGA to meet the Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts to find a new office for the Union.

Cheers from the enthusiastic crowd met the statement by the President.

In all 12 individuals and organisations were honoured for their contributions to the development of the music industry in Ghana, including the famous gospel sensation, Kofi Abraham, whose musical talent earned him the nickname professor.

Also on the list of ‘Lifetime Achievement Honours’ were Abrekyieba Kofi Sammi, Pat Thomas, Kwadwo Akwaboah and traditional Ga musician Naa Amanua of Wulomei fame and Asabia Cropper, fondly known for her usual duets with her brother, Kenteman.

For their efforts in supporting the music industry, Kwami SefaKayi, aka Chairman General, Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban, Ransford Antwi, telecoms company, Vodafone Ghana and 4Syte TV were honoured in the category of ‘Music Industry Pillar’ awards.

Obuor thanked all who supported the programme and called for more support for MUSIGA, especially the ‘Aged Musicians Fund.’
