The Late Samuel Marful-Sau
Elements in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have taken to social media to pass heartless comments following the sad passing of Supreme Court judge, Justice Samuel Kofi Marful-Sau.
Their hate and disdain for the judiciary was rekindled when news broke on Tuesday evening that the respected judge, who was on the panel that unanimously dismissed former President John Mahama’s Presidential Election Petition in March after the 2020 general election, was no more.
One of the popular pro-NDC Facebook pages called NDC Web posted pictures of all the members of the panel and circled the picture of the late judge with a sarcastic comment that “One of the Supreme Court Justices who presided over 2020 Election Petition, Samuel Marful-Sau (circled) DIED yesterday from COVID-19 related disease. May his soul Rest In Peace.”
Even before the NDC Web posted the distasteful comment, their Youth Organiser in the Bono Region called Efo Worlanyo Tsekpo had made an insensitive comment on Facebook about the judge.
He posted, “JSC Samuel Marful has died. He was part of the Supreme Court judges who sat on the 2020 Election Petition,” and sarcastically added a Bible quotation, Hosea 8:7.
In Hosea 8:7, the Bible says, “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be its yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.”
Worlanyo Tsekpo was the NDC activist who in 2020 vowed to get castrated if the Jean Mensa-led Electoral Commission was able to compile a new voters’ register ahead of the general election.
The register was duly compiled but he never carried out his surreal threat.
Heartless Comments
Following the post from the NDC Web, their followers started making heartless posts, some of which were offensive to the memory of the dead and the judiciary in general, but a few others reprimanded them for their insensitivity.
The several heartless reactions appeared to be based on the fact that Mr. Mahama’s petition was unanimously thrown out by the court.
Amos Qello posted, “Upon alllll (sic) the nonsense he has exhibited recently he still died? Anyway NPP lost a member. May he rest well with his CORRUPT nature.”
Jibrill Shaibu said, “Wicked and evil one’s (sic) will never rest in peace. He left with the money he took from the president for the bias judgment over 2020 election petition as evidence in his hand. Once there is no bribe at the heaven gate, definitely he will end up going to the other side.”
Saint Eugene said, “In fact, the NDC grassroots supporters would be very angry if our leaders try to attend that funeral programme. Our leaders shouldn’t think to do so (sic).”
Sigri Abuta said, “Congrats he will meet his creator and will answer how and why he decides (sic) unanimous decision on the petition even if he gets trillion dollar. Wallahi one-day without breathing he will regret it (sic) he will wish to return it but no way bye bye continue to face the consequences.”
Al Rasheed G Issahr said, “He will not R I P because he is one conspirator of injustice, cheating and robbing over 6 million people. Naked you came, naked you go. Go pay the price of corruptions and injustices.”
Raymond Mortty said, “Those saying hmm, rest well please we don’t need those words here… I prayed they all die in a month for mass burial,” in reference to the panel members that heard the petition.
However, Cwesimensah Lakim Jacob rebutted their heartless statement saying, “Rejoice over his death but make sure you’re also free from sins. Sinner judging a fellow sinner for sinning differently….but TRUTH be told all this noise making Will NEVER make JM a president. Ghanaians have rejected him for the second time…it’s in history. I understand your pain though.”
Daniel Oppong Kyekyeku also said, “Someone has lost his father and we are rejoicing over it. Who brought this culture and orientation to Ghana?”
One of the famous quotes of the late Justice Marful-Sau was “As a judge, I have evidence that God is real.”
