New Regions Get Ministers

President Akufo-Addo has nominated some persons to fill vacant ministerial positions in the six newly created regions.

He has also effected changes in four of the existing regions out of which the six new ones were created.

A statement from the Jubilee House signed by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications, named Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson, current Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sunyani, as the minister-designate for Bono Region while Siaka Stevens, Member of Parliament (MP) for Jaman North, has been named as deputy minister-designate for Bono Region.

Kofi Amoakohene, MP for Atebubu/Amantin, is the minister-designate for Bono East Region, with Martin Oti Gyarko, MP for Techiman North and former Deputy Minister for Brong Ahafo Region, as the deputy minister-designate for Bono East Region.

Evans Opoku Bobie, MP for Asunafo North, a former Minister for Brong Ahafo Region, has been named minister-designate for the newly created Ahafo Region, while Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere, MP for Tano South, has been nominated as deputy minister-designate.

For the Savannah Region, Salifu Adam Braimah, MP for Salaga South, has been named minister-designate, with a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Mankarigu Daboya Constituency, Samuel Yeyu Tika, as deputy minister-designate.

MP for Bunkpurugu and former Deputy Minister for the then Northern Region, Solomon Namliit Boar, is the minister-designate for North East Region, with Tahiru Tia Ahmed, an educationist from Gambaga, as deputy minister-designate.

Salifu Saeed remains the substantive minister for Northern Region while John Benam, former MP for Zabzugu, has been nominated as deputy minister-designate for the region.

For Western North Region, Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu, MP for Bibiani/Anhwiaso/Bekwai Constituency and former Deputy Minister for Health, has been named minister-designate, with Alex Tetteh, MP for Sefwi Akontombra, as deputy minister-designate.

MP for Takoradi and former Deputy Minister for Aviation, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, has been named as minister-designate for Western Region, with Eugenia Gifty Kusi as deputy minister-designate.

Dr. Archibald Letsa continues as substantive Minister for Volta Region while Johnson Avuletey has been nominated as the deputy minister-designate for the region.

Ghana’s Ambassador to Togo, Kwasi Owusu Yeboah, has been named as the minister-designate for the newly created Oti Region, with Maxwell Blagodzi, the former Deputy Minister for Volta Region as his deputy.

President Akufo-Addo expressed the hope that Parliament would expedite the vetting of the nominees to enable them assume office promptly.
