Next Stop: Assin North

If you pay attention to the news, you can generally tell when something momentous is about to happen. That is why the sages say coming events cast their shadows.

As usual, your Earth Angel Gabriel was hovering up in the firmament at Kumawu during the by-election campaign and saw things with my third eye.

Messages delivered by Mr. Dramani Mahama caught my attention. Addressing the NDC supporters at Kumawu, he said the Nana Addo-led administration has done nothing since the party was voted to power.

The watchword here is NOTHING. According to the accomplished loser and jester, if anyone thinks anything good would be done by the government for the remaining one and half years left for the Nana Addo-led administration then that person is day-dreaming.

He appealed to the people of Kumawu to vote massively for the NDC candidate to prove to Ghanaians that the NPP government is a ‘useless’ government. The Vuvuzela and the clapping and the Eye Zu, Eye Za slogan took over as Mr. Mahama kept smiling as if he had seen the testicles of his father in-law.

At the end of the day, Mr. Ernest Yaw Anim of the NPP garnered 15,264 votes while Mr. Kwaku Duah of the NDC had 3,723 votes, a whopping difference of 12,441 votes.

From the results, if Mr. Mahama has any dignity, he should look into the mirror and see how the face of a shameless man looks like.

The good people of Kumawu has proved to Mr. Mahama that gone were the days when crooks who parade as politicians can fool them again with empty rhetoric, laced with naked lies.

The people of Kumawu know what the NPP government has done for them. Despite the unprecedented global economic crises which also affect Ghana, the people of Kumawu has voted massively for the NPP candidate because they could read between the lines.

Mr. Mahama and his fellow tricksters thought they could play on the intelligence of the Kumawu people to disgrace the NPP at the polls. But voters at Kumawu know very well that the noise made by the NDC was nothing but desperation and sheer lust for political power.

When fuel prices hit the sky, the people of kumawu also felt the pinch and when the prices are gradually coming down because of the Gold for Oil batter deal, they too enjoy it.

Their wards are enjoying free SHS while the School Feeding programme continues despite the hardships which we all admit. Even though Mr. Okudjato Ablakwa told Ghanaians that the free SHS will collapse in a matter of five years, some of the beneficiaries of the programme from Kumawu are already pursuing courses at the universities.

For the four years that John Mahama and his clueless NDC government caused the Dumsor, the people of Kumawu for the past six years are not experiencing Dumsor under the Nana Addo–led administration and they appreciate that.  Government workers including teachers at Kumawu Constituency continue to receive their salaries at the end of every month.

Even though the prices of goods have gone high, they are available.  Fuel stations continue to serve motorists, unlike the (P)NDC revolutionary days where fuel was more valuable than gold.

The Kumawu students at the Colleges of Education and Nursing Training Colleges are still collecting the allowances which was cancelled by Mr. Mahama who looked at the faces of Ghanaians and told us that if even we will vote against him for cancelling the allowances, so be it.

Classroom blocks, dormitories, dining halls, roads and many more projects are going on at Kumawu and across the country despite the economic meltdown being experienced throughout the whole world.

And  shameless Mahama who run the country down had the guts  to tell the people of Kumawu that the Nana Addo-led government is the worst in the history of Ghana! His handlers should advice him to stop drinking from the flask which is always beside him anytime he gets ready to address the crowd.

Whoever fills that flask with whatever content should also reduce the potency of whatever he pours into the flasks because Mr. Mahama disgraces himself anytime he drinks the contents in the flask.

Imagine a whole former president of Ghana who still lives in Ghana telling his supporters that the price of a bag of cement in Ghana is GH¢800.00. What sane Ghanaian will say this if something toxic has not entered his belly? And people clapped for him simply because they have received some money and other goodies. I looked at his face when he made that silly statement and thought the man needs some medical care.

When President Akufo-Addo was speaking to the supporters of the NPP at Kumawu, he rightly asked his listeners whether they have been witnessing the type of Dumsor they experienced for four years when Mr. Mahama was in power.

And they all shouted NO! He said when he heard that Mahama said he will add all private schools to the free SHS programme he was surprised because it was the same Mahama who said free SHS was not possible when he, Nana Addo mooted the idea. The President said Mr. Mahama even questioned where the NPP was going to get the money to introduce free SHS.

Did I hear that the disgraced Independent Candidate, Kwaku Dua who had 2,478 votes is going to court to challenge the results? Akai!!!. Does he think he can fool the people of Kumawu all the time. As an ardent NPP member, he opted to stand as an Independent Candidate in the 2020 Parliamentary elections because he had an axe to grind with the late MP.

He was able to garner more than 11,000 votes so he thought this time around he could win the seat. He doesn’t know that the human mind is dynamic. The people of Kumawu have proved to him that once bitten, twice shy. They showed him the red card so he should better ‘sit his somewhere’ and lick his wounds.

Soon, the NPP and NDC are going to mash it up at Assin North Constituency in another by-election. The duel is going to be interesting because the stakes are very high for the NDC and they will try to use every rough tactics available to them to execute the project. The people of Assin North should not allow themselves to be fooled by the NDC who has nothing to offer.

They are going to take the same message they delivered at Kumawu to Assin North including the promise of distribution of piglets and the construction of chicken coops for the people of Assin North, thinking the people there are gullible. More red cards should be printed by the people of Assin North to show them the exit way if they try to mess around there.

The people of Assin North should lookout for that quarter cast Lebanese called Joseph Yamin who will once again try to drive fears into the minds of the peaceful people of Assin North like he did at Kumawu where he said that the NPP had sent truck load of arms and ammunitions heading towards Kumawu Constituency. Meanwhile, no one saw even a Christmas toy gun there during and after the by -election.

Who knows what he will say again at Assin North.   His false alarm meant the supporters of the NDC at Kumawu should arm themselves in anticipation of an assault on them by the NPP. That guy is a threat to our democracy and he must be stopped on his tracks before Election 2024.

But how will the battlegrounds at Assin North look like?  Your guess is as good as mine. God is always not neutral between good and evil. Full stop!
