Nana Akufo-Addo addressing the gathering
PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has sternly cautioned members of his party against voting for him in some constituencies and refusing to vote for the party’s parliamentary candidates in those constituencies (known in Ghana’s political circles as ‘skirt & blouse’).
He charged all NPP loyalists to vote massively for him as their presidential aspirant and also vote for all the NPP parliamentary candidates across the country in the December 7 polls.
According to Nana Addo, anyone who would vote for him and refuse to vote for the parliamentary aspirants would do a great disservice to the NPP as far as its ambition of winning the polls is concerned.
“I hate that word ‘skirt and blouse’ so please make sure that you relegate it to the background”, Nana Akufo-Addo, who was addressing a colossal crowd at Bosome Freho in the Ashanti Region, stated.
He said it is important that the NPP wins massively in both the presidential and the parliamentary elections to show to the whole world that the NPP is the best political party in the country that can alleviate the citizens of the hardships they are facing under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
In this regard, Nana Akufo-Addo admonished the NPP supporters to reject independent parliamentary candidates who would visit them to canvass for votes, during campaign periods.
Nana Akufo-Addo reminded party members and the supporters that any vote against the (party’s) parliamentary candidates, is a vote against him and so they should do the right thing.
Chase Every Vote
He said it is his prime wish that the NPP would not lose a single vote during the upcoming polls, stressing that the party’s victory has to be massive.
The NPP leader therefore, entreated the party loyalists to embark on a massive campaign across the country and make sure that every available vote is attracted to it (NPP) ahead of the polls.
The flag bearer also stressed the need for the members to unite as one family with a common destiny ahead of the elections, indicating that with oneness and unity, victory cannot elude the NPP.
I Won’t Steal State Money
Nana Akufo-Addo emphasized that he is not gunning for the presidential seat to siphone state money to enrich himself and a very few people, as it is happening in the country now under the NDC administration.
According to him, he is contesting for the presidency so that he could use his rich experience and expertise to implement pragmatic policies to help save the country from its current state of despondency.
Thanks Asanteman
Nana Akufo-Addo whole-heartedly thanked Asanteman for its unflinching support.
He said he was overwhelmed about the exceptional welcome that was accorded him by the people during his four-day stay in the Ashanti Region.
He said a huge crowd left their jobs to offer him a hillarious welcome at the Kumasi Airport on Wednesday.
He recounted that the crowd kept increasing from one constituency to another from Wednesday to Saturday when he finally ended his campaign tour.
He noted that everything showed that the NPP is stronger than ever in the region – the party’s stronghold.
