NPP Targets Historic 85% Win in Ashanti

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set an ambitious target of securing 85% of the vote in the Ashanti Region, a traditional stronghold of the party, with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its presidential candidate.

Speaking at the Ashanti Regional Campaign Working Committee Meeting and Women’s Conference, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the party’s vice-presidential candidate, expressed confidence in achieving this goal, citing the strategic advantage of having Dr. Bawumia on the ticket.

“Ashanti Region is solidly behind him,” Dr. Prempeh said, dismissing claims that the party would not support a northerner as leader. “It is easier for the NPP to get 85% in the Ashanti Region with Bawumia as presidential candidate than any time in the history of the party.”

Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the party’s commitment to achieving its goals.

“Our target to win all forty-seven constituencies is still in motion. We will have to deliver it.”

However, achieving this target will require more than just confidence. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, MP for Suame and Chairman of the NPP Manifesto Committee, stressed the need for a well-organized party structure to support an effective door-to-door campaign.

“Achieving 85% in the Ashanti Region is feasible, but it requires a well-organized party structure,” he said.

“We need to reinvigorate our organizational units and ensure that our message reaches every voter.”

The NPP’s Women’s Wing will also play a crucial role in achieving this target, according to Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei Opare.

“The women’s wing must play a pivotal role in the campaign to help secure the desired outcome,” she emphasized.

With the party’s sights set on winning a historic 85% of the vote in the Ashanti Region, the NPP is leaving no stone unturned in its quest for dominance in the region.
