A number of revellers gathered at the garden of the Accra Polo Grounds to party the night away on Friday, March 6, 2020, as part of efforts to commemorate Ghana’s Independence Day celebrations.
The garden party is one of the most anticipated events of the season, attracting a fashionable crowd seeking entertainment and networking from around the globe and featuring the excitement of polo.
Ahead of the party was a polo match finale between Ghana and Nigeria. Ghana emerged champions after an 11-2 win against their Nigerian counterparts at the end of the heated tournament.
In an interview with the man of the game, Harold Awuah Darko Jnr, he mentioned that fearlessness, team spirit, determination and good tactics are some of the qualities to take note of when playing polo.
The Polo Grounds member and tournament manager of Lagos, Nigeria, Seyi Oyinlola, mentioned that there is a lot a nation could benefit from polo, and therefore, called on the various authorities to embrace it as a major game by lending more support.
Patrons of the event included the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Springfield Group, Kevin Okyere; CEO of Brommon Bespoke, Kweku Boateng Akuoku; business magnate Ibrahim Mahama, ex-Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah, actress Joselyn Dumas, Roseline Okoro and a host of others.
