President Mahama’s Nephew Turns Musician

Nigeria-based Ghanaian rapper, Dope LRB, a nephew of President John Mahama, was officially initiated into Ghana’s music industry with a special unveiling ceremony in Accra last Sunday.

The ceremony took place at the Providence Event Centre in Accra. It was strictly by invitation and attracted a number of influencers in the entertainment industry and other high-profile personalities.

Among them were ex-President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Alhaji Sidiku Buari; TV anchor, Nana Aba Anamoah; fashionista and lawyer, Sandra Ankobiah, and rapper Esbee, with Abeiku Santana as the master of ceremony.

Dope LRB, born Abdulzaahir Dundu, used the occasion to also launch his new single titled ‘Omo Mummy’.

He performed both released and yet-to-be released songs during the evening to the admiration of patrons. There was an obvious excitement when he performed the song ‘Dab Now’, which got some patrons on the dance floor to do the dab dance.

The vibrant Afrobeats rapper after his performance later introduced supporting artistes like Adoma, Feli Nuna, Ebony Reigns and others to perform with him.

He described Ebony as the Ghanaian female musician with the most sex appeal while introducing her.

Dope LRB holds a degree in Psychology and Business Management. He was born in Ghana, but moved to Nigeria at a very early age. He is a son to one of President Mahama’s sisters.

Though he is not a household name yet, Dope LRB has been making waves underground with his works, including his ‘Dreams Of Reality EP’. The EP received over 20,000 listens on sound cloud at the end of 2015.

He has produced and worked with musicians from Ghana and Nigeria, including Eedris Abdul Kareem, Efya, R2bees, Bucho Dego and more.

With the unveiling ceremony on Sunday, he expects to grow his fan base across Ghana and the African continent in general.
