Scratch Studios, a record label with international recognition, will host a weeklong event dubbed ‘Let’s Celebrate Ghana’ in Accra in March this year.
The event is to celebrate Ghana’s 62nd Independence Day.
The weeklong event seeks to promote Ghanaian music and culture.
It will also provide the platform for connecting and building relationships across creative markets in the world.
Some of the activities lined up for the event include cultural musical performances, comedy shows, products sales, exhibition and music seminar for stakeholders.
At the event, Scratch Studios will exhibit literature materials on Ghanaian music and tourism, as well as works of all the artistes on the label.
The event is expected to attract a lot of Ghanaian exhibitors who will showcase their various made-in-Ghana products.
The event will be climaxed with a live musical concert which will feature over 30 performing artistes, including Afro-pop artiste Susan Amoakohene, known also in the music scene as SSUE.
Currently, Scratch Studios is working on a project to create avenues for Ghanaian artistes to work on collaborations with their colleagues in Europe and other parts of the world.
This will provide an opportunity for Ghanaian artistes to have recording and distribution deals with some of the international record labels and music distribution outfits.
“Our aim is to help Ghanaian and African music to grow internationally and we are happy we are making ample progress on that front,” Kofi Amoakohene, CEO of Scratch Universal, said.
He added that representatives from Scratch Universal will be attending this year’s edition of Marché International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale (MIDEM) to be held in Cannes, France.
Since 2013, Scratch Universal has produced a number of artistes, and it is the second company from Africa after South Africa to ever attend MIDEM.
