Strategic Mobilisation Limited Ghana’s (SML) partnership with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has resulted in the doubling of revenue from downstream petroleum.
Through the implementation of innovative technology, SML has helped Ghana generate GH¢12 billion by significantly increasing the taxable volume of petroleum products.
Yaa Serwaah Sarpong (PhD), Director of Special Support Services, announced this during a visit to SML by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and Energy, Samuel Atta Akyea.
She stated that when SML began working with the downstream petroleum industry, the average taxable volume was between 240 and 250 million litres. However, with the controls and auditing measures put in place by SML, this volume has now reached a remarkable 450 million litres.
Sarpong emphasised that this achievement was made possible due to the unprecedented technology utilised by SML in Ghana.
Touching on the rumour of a $ 100 million a year contract, she stressed “it was a fallacy and the work hasn’t started, and no money has been paid to SML. Note that all the infrastructural installations are borne by the company.”
“When we came in the downstream petroleum, the average taxable volume was between 240 and 250, but we have doubled that volume based on the controls we have put in place to audit and assure revenue in the downstream petroleum. It is unprecedented based on the technology SML is using in Ghana,” she noted.
“So, our performance has been remarkable and unprecedented and GRA has already said this.
“We have been able to show our MPs what we do and how we come about what we do. And we are confident that they were impressed with our operations,” Yaa Serwaah Sarpong noted.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Mines and Energy, Samuel Atta Akyea, commended the company for its state-of-the-art installations to track the movement of petroleum products at tank farms across the country.

Akyea expressed his satisfaction with SML’s operations and urged the public to refrain from making uninformed comments about the company.
The Abuakwa South MP added, “From an informed position, though I don’t want to prejudice the work of the Jubilee House, I believe that this is a world-class installation.
“SML has come to expose something very huge and I think they have given the whole nation some rest, and the GRA can attest to that.
“Those who have no clue as to what this company is doing or have no facts as to what happens here, should not do propaganda at the least opportunity.”
