The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Takoradi, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, has given drivers in five taxi stations in the Constituency, 100 gallons of gasoline each.

The MP also gave 50 gallons of the same product to drivers in one commercial ‘tro-tro’ station in the area.

The fuel worth about GH¢40,000 was in fulfilment of a promise he made to the drivers during the 2024 electioneering campaign.

On November 13, 2024, Mr. Darko-Mensah engaged the drivers who appealed to him to assist them with the fuel package.

The drivers explained that the package will go a long way to support their colleagues who find it difficult to operate, particularly at the beginning of the year because they cannot afford to purchase fuel.

The Takoradi MP who is also the immediate past Western Regional Minister, assured the drivers that he would honour their request when he is retained as their MP.

The drivers expressed their happiness for the initiative and praised the MP for fulfilling his promise.

“In fact we never thought that this promise will be fulfilled in this shortest possible time. Our MP has proved that he is a man of his words,” they indicated.

For his part, the MP encouraged the drivers to make good use of the support and try to build on it.

“This support is free and it is from my own pocket, so please make good use of it to help improve your living standards,” he added.
