Leadership of the DreamChild Foundation, organisers of the HoodTalk Music Festival, paid a courtesy call on the chiefs of Tamale and its environs to brief them about the HoodTalk Music Festival which was held on September 30 at the Jubilee Park in Tamale.
DreamChild Foundation is an NGO committed to help provide adequate healthcare, education and other support services to African children.
Its ‘HoodTalk’ project has already received endorsement from the Office of the President, and the NGO is also engaged with raising funds to build five paediatric clinics across Ghana.
The delegation visited chiefs such as Yoo-Naa Abdulai Yakubu (Paramount Chief of Savelugu), Naa Alhassan Abdulai (Paramount Chief Gutuagu), Naa Fuseini Bawa (DakpemaNaa), Bonaatia Salifu Shirazu (Paramount Chief of Boggu), LamasheNaa Abdulai Ziblim (Paramount Chief of Lamashegu), Naa Mahama Karim (Tamale Tin Dana), DagbonDemaNaa Mohammed Awal (Traditional Youth Ambassador for Entertainment) to inform them about the activities of the foundation.
All the chiefs during interactions with the delegation pledged support for the HoodTalk Music Festival, which will be held in some selected venues in the country.
The chief of Savelegu, Yoo-NaaYakubu, was the first to receive the delegation led by the foundation’s co-founder Kofi Amoakohene, Director Paa Kwesi Holbrook-Smith, among others.
Addressing the delegation, the Yoo-Naa expressed his unflinching support of DreamChild Foundation’s fundraising efforts to build a paediatric centre for the children of Dagbon.
He also pledged 2-3 acres of land for the building of the facility.
He further indicated that the people should invest in the project by contributing whatever they could towards the project, in addition to whatever else could be raised.
Similar sentiments were expressed by the Choggu Naa, the Lameshu Naa, the Nakpe Naa, who all received the delegation warmly with the courtesies of kola nuts and applause.
The Tamale edition of the HoodTalk Music Festival attracted thousands of music fans from Tamale and its environs, and will serve as a platform to honour Ghanaian music and artistes.
It featured a variety of well-known performing artistes including Maccasio, Fad Lan, Abu Sadiq, Omar Janda, Flawer Gaskia, Young Shark, Raheem, Tamale Youth Home Cultural Group, and a host of others.
