Thrills @ 2024 African Legends Night

This year’s edition of the annual African Legends Night, which took place at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) last Saturday, was a really entertaining event.

The African Legends Night, organised by Global Media Alliance (GMA), is a high-profile concert which recognises and celebrates African musicians who are considered living legends.

Renowned musicians such as South African singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Okyeame Kwame, George Jahraa, and Adane Best performed at the highly anticipated event.

Adane Best gave a great performance to open the concert, captivating the audience with hits like ‘Mafio’ and ‘Gyata Bi Ole’.

The event reached its peak when three other top musicians were called one after the other to entertain fans.

George Jahraa mounted the stage and thrilled music fans with most of his popular danceable songs such as ‘Driver Banza’, ‘Ashikele’, among others.

Okyeame Kwame (Rap Doctor) also delivered on his earlier promise to provide the best of entertainment for his fans on the night.

Among the songs he performed were ‘Woso’, ‘Small Small’, and ‘Made in Ghana’, leaving the audience eager for more.

When Yvonne Chaka Chaka, dubbed the Princess of Africa, took the stage, it was the highlight of the evening.

As one of the headliners for this year’s African Legends Night, Yvonne Chaka Chaka’s performance was one of the memorable moments that characterised the night.

She sang timeless hits like ‘Umqombothi’, ‘I’m In Love With A DJ’, ‘I’m Burning Up’, and many more.

All the music icons who performed at the event were not only celebrated for their performances, but also honoured with prestigious Hall of Fame inductions.

The Hall of Fame induction aims to recognise artistes who have made significant contributions to the music industry.

This year’s honour included Ghanaian legends Adane Best, George Jahraa, and Okyeame Kwame, all celebrated for their innovative artistry, exceptional songwriting, and enduring popularity.

South African superstar Yvonne Chaka Chaka also joined the ranks, receiving accolades for her artistic excellence and pioneering achievements.

Since its inception, African Legends Night has become synonymous with musical excellence, consistently showcasing world-class performances that celebrate Africa’s rich cultural heritage.

The event has featured some of the continent’s most iconic artistes, including Hugh Masekela, Femi Kuti, Freddie Meiway, Kanda Bongoman, Amakye Dede, and Daddy Lumba.
