Two Ghanaian socialites have been arrested in the United States by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over their alleged involvement in a romance scam.

The suspects, twins, identified as Jamal Abubakari and Kamal Abubakari, are said to be known on social media by the aliases “Arrangement” and “Lancaster.”

According to reports, the two men were apprehended shortly after arriving in the United States over the weekend.

They had reportedly travelled to the country to conduct business when authorities picked them up.

The Abubakari twins have in recent years drawn attention online for frequently displaying luxury vehicles, expensive lifestyles, and large sums of cash on social media platforms.

While details of the alleged scheme remain limited, authorities believe the arrests are linked to ongoing investigations into romance-related fraud activities, a form of cybercrime that typically involves deceiving victims into sending money under false pretences.

The FBI has yet to release an official statement outlining the full scope of the allegations or the potential charges the suspects may face.
