Veep Hosts Chef Failatu

Vice President Bawumia and Failatu Abdul Razak

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia on Tuesday hosted Chef Failatu Abdul Razak and her team at the Jubilee House, who had come to show their appreciation for his support during the cook-a-thon in Tamale.

Chef Faila, who is on record to have cooked for 227 hours at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record, was heavily supported by the Vice President during her cooking journey.

Aside from receiving a donation of GH¢30,000 in the purchase of food and ingredients for the marathon, Dr. Bawumia made a surprise visit to the Modern City Hotel where Faila’s cooking marathon took place, to render his support.

At the Jubilee House, Chef Faila acknowledged the support of Dr. Bawumia and the NPP government to her team, to accomplish the task of becoming the world’s longest cook-a-thon holder.

In response, Dr. Bawumia, in a show of appreciation for Chef Faila projecting the country’s culture through its food on the international front, blessed her with a one-week vacation set to take place at the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, popularly known as Jirapa Dubai, in the Upper West Region.

The vacation covered Chef Faila, her husband, and her sous-chef, Eric.

While awaiting confirmation from Guinness World Records, Chef Faila began her journey to breaking Irish chef Alan Fisher’s 119 hours and 54 minutes record on Monday, January 1, 2024.

The event garnered support from various political figures, including Tamale South MP Haruna Iddrisu, Tamale Central MP Murtala Muhammed, and Minister of State in charge of Finance, Dr. Mohammad Amin Adam, all of whom visited the venue to give their encouragement.
