The Ghana Education Service (GES) in collaboration with the management of CHIANA Senior high School in the Kassena Nankana West District has initiated investigation to unravel the circumstances under which some second year students of the school disrespected President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a video which has since gone viral on social media.
The five students seen and heard insulting and defaming President of the Republic in a viral video circulating on social media platforms, are Mariam GARIBA (form2 Science A), Amina ALI (form 2 Home Economics B), Mariam Planger MATTEER (form 2 Home Economics A), Janet NDANBIL (form 2 Home Economics A) and Patience ASAAH (form 2 Arts B2).
This video which was allegedly recorded and circulated on November 10, 2022 saw the students misconducted themselves using vulgar and unprintable words as well as made gestures against the President.
In a statement, GES condemned the act, saying it is against the educational and moral principles in society.
“Parents of the students have also been invited to assist with investigations,” the statement signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo said when apologising to the President and general public on behalf of the studnets and school.
It assured that the outcome of the investigation would be made public.
According to Ivy Betur NAASO the headmistress of CHIANA SHS, the school has initiated disciplinary procedure on the five studnets.
There is currently calm in the school as the situation is being monitored.
